Alina Ruiz Folini

Alina Ruiz Folini (Argentina)  is an artist and creator. Her work navigates between choreography, performance, research and curatorial practices. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and currently based in Madrid, Spain.

Alina studied in Argentina BA in Philosophy (UBA) and Choreography (UNA) and recently graduated in MA – Performing Arts and Visual Culture at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia and UCLM, Spain.

She is interested in creating artistic research contexts, both academic and self-taught, that can consider choreography as a framework from where to disable habits and provoke transformations, as well as creating new possibilities of being together.

Artistic Director and Curator of ARQUEOLOGIAS DEL FUTURO _ International Festival of Performing Arts and Knowledge, taking place annually in Buenos Aires and Madrid.

Her latest creation, Proyecto TACTIL (2018) was co-created with Leticia Skrycky in collaboration with Luciana Chieregati, and has received support from Leal.Lav (Tenerife), La Caldera (Barcelona), Graner (Barcelona), NAVE (Santiago de Chile) y Residencia Intermitentes / Centro de Danza Canal (Madrid).                                                                  

Previous works: SURVIVAL (2015), THE LAUGH (2017), were performed in different venues and festivals such as Center for Performance Research and Judson Church (New York – US), JUNTA International Dance Festival (Brazil), CCK (Argentina), La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Festival MASA – Teatro Pradillo (Madrid), Festival NIDO (Uruguay), CIA – Centro de Investigaciones Artísticas (Argentina), among others.

Alina is also dancer for Trilogía Antropofágica directed by Tamara Cubas (Uruguay).
