Carmelo Fernández

Carmelo Fernández. Choreographer, dancer and cultural agitator. After beginning his dance studies in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1987 he studied the complete program of the CNDC of Angers between 1993 and 1995. Between 95 and 97 he is part of the Company Last time, directed by Wim Vandekeybus, Brussels. In 1997 he returned to the Canary Islands and together with Juan Benítez he founded the structure El Ojo de la Faraona, with which during the following 15 years he developed his own pieces, co-produced works of other creators, set up the creation space “El Hueco del Eye “and produces the festival” A Ras de Suelo “. At the same time he collaborates with structures and choreographers such as Carmelo Salazar, Barcelona, Beatríz Fernández, Barcelona, Rasmus Ölme, Stockholm, Orlando Ortega, Gran Canaria, collective El Hueco, Gran Canaria, La Poderosa, Barcelona …
In 2012 he disassociates himself from all this and only dedicates himself to participate in immediate projects such as In-Presentable, Madrid, Inromeria, Barcelona, Encuentros sobre Cuerpo and Perfomatividad, Tenerife. At the same time, he develops the Workshop of Mechanics and Body Conduction in different cities.

Artificial Indications of Carmelo Fernández began to develop in 2015 with the support of LEAL.LAV (Tenerife). Later, while it was still a work in progress an outline in the framework of REACTION ENCUENTRO (Gran Canaria) could be seen. The project is resumed in the spring of 2017 with the support of Graner, Center de Creació del Cos and moviment, (Barcelona) and SIT. Insular Theater Hall. (Gran Canaria). The premiere of the piece took place in the Insular Theater Hall on May 19 and 20 in Gran Canaria. It was in this second phase when the creative team that ended up shaping the piece was composed. The choreographer Carmelo Fernández is joined by Sonia Gómez in the creative accompaniment of the piece and the composer and pianist Toño del Barco.
